Dental Crowns in Scottsdale, Tempe & Gilbert

Restore damaged teeth with natural-looking crowns β€” including same-day CEREC crowns at our Scottsdale and Gilbert offices. No temporary, no second visit.

A cracked, decayed, or weakened tooth does more than cause discomfort β€” it puts the entire tooth at risk. Without protection, what starts as a small fracture can turn into a serious infection or tooth loss. A dental crown restores the tooth's strength, shape, and appearance so you can eat, speak, and smile without worry.

At Summit Ridge Dental, our dentists use advanced digital scanning and CEREC milling technology to create custom-fit porcelain crowns that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. At our Scottsdale and Gilbert locations, many patients walk in with a damaged tooth and walk out with a permanent, beautiful crown β€” all in a single visit.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth, covering it completely down to the gum line. It restores the tooth's original size, shape, strength, and appearance. Crowns are custom-made from materials like porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, or porcelain-fused-to-metal to match the color and translucency of your surrounding teeth.

Why Might You Need a Crown?

Crowns are one of the most versatile restorations in dentistry. Your dentist may recommend one to protect a tooth after a root canal, hold together a cracked or fractured tooth, replace a large filling when there is not enough natural tooth remaining, support a dental bridge, cover a dental implant, or improve the appearance of a severely discolored or misshapen tooth.

Can I Get a Dental Crown in One Visit?

Yes β€” and it is one of the things our patients love most about Summit Ridge Dental. At our Scottsdale and Gilbert locations, we use CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology to design, mill, and place a permanent porcelain crown in a single appointment.

Traditional crowns require two visits: one to prepare the tooth and take impressions, and a second visit weeks later to place the permanent crown. In between, you wear a temporary. With CEREC, the entire process happens in about 90 minutes with no goopy impressions, no temporary crown, and no second appointment.

Our Tempe location offers traditional lab-fabricated crowns with a quick turnaround β€” typically ready in 7 to 10 business days.

What to Expect During Your Crown Procedure

Step 1: Examination and Digital Imaging

Your dentist examines the tooth and takes digital X-rays or a 3D scan to evaluate the damage and surrounding bone structure. Together, you will discuss whether a crown is the best option.

Step 2: Tooth Preparation

The tooth is gently reshaped under local anesthesia to create room for the crown. If the tooth is badly broken down, a core buildup may be placed first to provide a stable foundation.

Step 3: Digital Impression

We use an iTero digital scanner to capture a precise 3D model of your tooth β€” no uncomfortable putty trays. The scan is used to design your custom crown on screen.

Step 4: Crown Fabrication

For same-day CEREC crowns, the restoration is milled from a solid block of ceramic right in our office while you wait. For lab-fabricated crowns, a temporary is placed and the permanent crown is ready in about a week.

Step 5: Bonding and Adjustment

The finished crown is checked for fit, color match, and bite alignment, then permanently bonded to your tooth. Your dentist makes final adjustments so the crown feels natural and comfortable.

How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost in Scottsdale?

Dental crowns in the greater Phoenix area typically range from $800 to $1,800 per crown, depending on the material used (porcelain, zirconia, or metal) and the complexity of the case. Same-day CEREC crowns are priced comparably to traditional crowns.

Most dental insurance plans cover crowns as a major restorative procedure at 50% to 80% after your deductible. We are in-network with Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, UnitedHealthcare, and many other plans. Our team will verify your coverage and provide a detailed estimate before treatment begins.

No insurance? Our Summit Savings Plan ($299/year) gives uninsured patients 15% off all treatments, including crowns. We also accept CareCredit and Lending Club financing with low monthly payments.
